Import duty on white sugar will suffer a raise by KV Thomas

The present import duty of sugar as well as raw sugar in set at 10 per cent. The Brazilian Food Minister, M. Thomas, says that it would be very progressive for the Brazil to set the import duty of sugar at 20 per cent and then try to bring down the raw sugar’s import duty at 0. This decision will be taken between 10 and 15 days as a Cabinet note after the consultation and will affect the whole economy since sugar is such a basic element that most of the people consume every day.
